LAWS OF MARYLAND.

odist Protestant Church at its regular sessions, held according
to the constitution and discipline of said church, and shall hold
office until their successors are elected; provided, that in case
the place of any member of said corporation shall become vacant
by death, resignation, disqualification or otherwise, during the
interim between the regular sessions of said General Conference,
then the remaining members of said corporation may fill any
such vacancies, and the new members of said corporation thus
elected shall hold office until the next session of the said Gen-
eral Conference, or until their successor shall be elected; and
provided further, that in case said General Conference shall at
any regular session fail to elect the members of said corporation
as above provided, then the members previously elected and
then holding office, shall continue in office until the next session
of said General Conference, or until their successors are duly
elected hereunder.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That the said corporation under

its said corporate name shall have power to take and hold- by
donation, gift, grant, devise, bequest or otherwise, any property,
real, personal or mixed in the State of Maryland, or in any
other State of the United States, in behalf of and for the benefit
of the said General Conference of the Methodist Protestant
Church, and the same to manage, grant, convey, lease or other-
wise dispose of and to execute such trusts as may be confided
to said corporation, the whole to be under the supervision of
and amenable to the General Conference of the Methodist Pro-
testant Church.

SEC. 8. And be it enacted, That said corporation shall also
be deemed competent to receive and administer any special
benevolent trust on behalf of the Methodist Protestant Church,
or any religious, charitable or benevolent object connected with
said church that may be confided or entrusted to it.

Officers.

SEC. 9. And be it enacted, That said corporation shall have
a president, vice-president, secretary and treasurer, such officer
to be chosen from its own members as often as they may see
proper, and according to rules to be by them prescribed, and
the said corporation shall have authority to appoint such other
officers and servants or agents as shall be deemed necessary.

Quorum.

SEC. 10. And be it enacted, That eight members of said cor-
poration shall be sufficient number to transact the business
thereof, and to make by-laws and regulations.
