SEC. 2. And be it further enacted, That the General Assem-
bly shall have the right at any time to repeal or amend this
act.

effect from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 125.

AN ACT to authorize the City and Suburban Railway Com.
pany to construct a viaduct or elevated railroad structure, on
Eastern avenue, between 8th and 12th streets, for the pur-
pose of avoiding the present crossing at grade of the tracks
of the Union Railroad and the Philadelphia, Wilmington
and Baltimore Railroad.
SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That it shall be lawful for the City and Suburban Rail-

way company, to erect a bridge, viaduct or elevated railway
structure on Eastern avenue, between the centre of 8th and
12th streets, for the purposes of carrying thereon its double
street railway tracks over the railroad of the Union Railroad
Company and the Philadelphia, Wilmington and Baltimore
Railroad Company, with the necessary approaches thereto ;
said structure shall be located with abutments at each end and
upon intermediate iron posts or pillars placed in Easton
avenue; said posts or pillars to be not less than fourteen feet
apart and of a width or thickness not exceeding one foot and
eight inches; and provided, further, that the said posts shall be
located not less than twelve feet from the curb line of said
street, and that at the ascending and descending portions of
said structure, the ascent and descent shall be made in such a
manner as to leave at least twelve feet clear for the passage of
vehicles between the curb line and the outside edges of the
ascending and descending approaches, and said structure shall
give a clearance of at least twenty feet over the tracks of the
said Union Railroad and the Philadelphia, Wilmington and
Baltimore Railroad, and a clearance of not less than fifteen
feet above the graded surface of Eastern avenue between the
inclined approaches thereto; provided, that before the said
City and Suburban Railway shall commence the construction
of said viaduct or elevated structure, it shall submit the plans
