the Governor, and be recommended by the city executive
committee of said political party for the city of Baltimore.
The revision of all assessments made in the assessment dis-
tricts of the several counties, and of the city of Baltimore, and
all appeals taken from the assessments made by the assessors
in said assessment districts shall be made to the County
Commissioners in the several counties, and to the Boards of
Control and Review in Baltimore city, in their several juris-
dictions.

167. The assessors appointed under this act, and each person
appointed under this act as one of a Board of Control ,and
Review shall receive the sum of four dollars for every day of
actual service performed by him under this act.
The County Commissioners of the several counties, sitting
as a Board of Control and Review, shall have the right to

appoint a clerk, (in addition to the regular clerk to said Boards
of County Commissioners,) who shall receive for each day of
actual service as such clerk, the sum of three dollars per day,
and who shall be subject to the removal at the pleasure of
such board. The Boards of Control and Review appointed
for the city of Baltimore shall have the right to appoint two
clerks to said board, who shall each receive for each day of
actual service, as such clerks, the sum of three dollars and fifty
cents per day, and shall be subject to removal at the pleasure
of said boards; the compensation of said assessors, County
Commissioners in the several counties acting as Boards of
Control and Review, and their clerk, shall be paid by the
counties in which their duties are respectively performed, and
the assessors, Boards of Control and Review, and their clerks,
for Baltimore city shall be paid by said city. In counties
where the County Commissioners have a stated annual salary,
the said commissioners shall be entitled to receive in addition
to said salaries the per diem by this act allowed for each day of
actual service performed in their capacity of Boards of Con
trol and Review. The accounts for services rendered by the
assessors and clerks in the several counties shall be approvec
by the County Commissioners for such counties, and the ac
counts for services rendered by the assessors, Boards of Contro
and Review and clerks shall be approved by the Appeal Tax
Court of Baltimore city before the same are paid.

168. The Governor of this State shall have power to remove
at any time for cause any assessor or member of a Board of
Control and Review appointed by him under this act, and to
appoint another person or other persons in case there be more
