LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Appropria-
tion.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the Comptroller be and he is hereby directed to
issue his warrant upon the Treasurer of the State in favor of
the Board of School Commissioners of Garrett county for the
sum of fifteen hundred and sixty-two dollars and one cent,
said sum, in addition to the amount to which said county is
entitled to receive, to be paid eut of the public school funds
of the State under existing laws.

March instal-
ment of
school tax.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the Comptroller be and he is
hereby authorized and directed to apportion to Garrett county
its proper proportion of the said school tax for the year
eighteen hundred and ninety -six, known as the "March instal-
ment" of said school tax, to be made by said Comptroller in
pursuance of law, on the fifteenth day of March in each year,
in the same manner as if the county schools of said Garrett
county had been kept open seven and one-half months in the
year ending December thirty-first, eighteen hundred and
nintey-six.

How to be
applied.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That said board of school com-
missioners shall apply the said sums so received by the pro-
visions of this act to the support of the public schools of said
county, in the same manner as the other portions of the State
school tax received by said county are intended to be applied
under the provisions of the existing law of this State.

Effective.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 17.

AN ACT to declare the sanction of the General Assembly of
Maryland, to sundry gifts, bequests and devises to the Con-
vention of the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Diocese
of Maryland.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the sanction of the General Assembly of Mary-
land be and the same is hereby declared, given and granted to
the following gifts, bequests and devises to the Convention of
the Protestant Episcopal Church of the Diocese of Maryland :
1. To the bequest of Mary E. Woodward, of one thousand
