LAWS OF MARYLAND.

Objects of
corporation.

SEC. 3. And be it enacted. That the object and purposes of
said corporation are the education of young men for the
Roman Catholic priesthood, whose mission shall be among the
negro race, and also for church, school, industrial and chari-
table work among the colored people. In order that the object
of the said corporation may be attained, the, trustees of said
corporation are hereby authorized to use and employ its prop-
erty or the income thereof, or both, in the maintenance, sup-
port and education of the young men studying for the priest-
hood; and also in building churches, schools, industrial and
charitable institutions in and out of the State of Maryland.

Trustees.

SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the management of said
corporation and of its business, is hereby vested in John R.
Slattery, Joseph A. St. Laurent, Thomas B. Donovan, Oscar
F. Lebean, Edward L. Quade, John A. De Ruyter, Lambert
Welbers and Charles E. Reilly, and their successors, to be
chosen as hereinbefore provided for, who shall be known as the
trustees of said corporation; and the said corporation is hereby
given full power to increase the number cf trustees at will ;
that the trustees, and each of them, shall hold office for life,
unless removed by a majority of their number, and in the
event of the death of one, the said trustees are hereby author-
ized to fill by a majority vote the vacancy; but a failure to
elect a trustee or trustees to fill any vacancy or vacancies
occurring in their number, shall not work a forfeiture of this
charter, or of the privileges hereby granted, or a dissolution
of the corporation nereby created.

Officers and
agents.

SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the said trustees of said
corporation, be and they are hereby authorized to elect a
president, who shall be chosen from among their number,
who shall appoint such officers and agents as he may deem
necessary, and the said president shall be elected by a major-
ity vote of the said trustees, and shall hold office for life,
unless removed by a majority vote of said trustees.

Right of
appeal.

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the General Assembly of
Maryland reserves to itself the right to alter, amend or
repeal this act, or any part thereof, at its pleasure.

Effective.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.
