SEC. 2, And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect:
from the date of its passage.

CHAPTER 115.

AN ACT to amend the charter of St. Joseph's Society for
Colored Missions of Baltimore city.

Effective.

WHEREAS, St. Joseph's Society for Colored Missions of Bal-.
timore city, is a corporation duly incorporated under and by
virtue of the General Laws of this State; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Said corporation was formed for the following
purposes, viz: Educational, religious and charitable purposes ;
and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Said corporation is desirous of changing its
name by leaving off the words "of Baltimore city ;" and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Said corporation is desirous of further amending
its charter, so as to state therein the special objects for which
it is formed; therefore,

Preamble.

SECTION 1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Mary-
land, That the name of St. Joseph's Society for Colored Mis-
sions of Baltimore city, a corporation duly organized under and
by virtue of the General Laws of this State, be and the same
is hereby changed to St. Joseph's Society for Colored Missions,
and by that name shall have perpetual succession, with full
power and authority to provide for the admission and- rejection
of members, the right to sue and be sued, to contract and be
contracted with, and to implead and be impleaded, to make
and use a common seal and to alter the same at pleasure, and
may acquire, have, hold, possess, use and enjoy upon the trust
and for the uses and purposes of said corporation, by purchase,
gift, grant, devise or bequest, real, personal and mixed prop-
erty, wherever the same may be situated, whether within or
without the State of Maryland, and the same to alien, sell or
transfer absolutely or conditionally, at pleasure.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That the principal office of said
body corporate shall be in the city of Baltimore, in the State of
Maryland.
