LAWS OF MARYLAND.-

commissioners in the penal sum of one thousand dollars, with a
surety or sureties to be approved by said commissioners, condi-
tioned for the faithful performance of his duties as such
general supervisor; the term of office of said general super-
visor and of the district supervisors shall be for one year only,
subject to removal by the County Commissioners at any time
for good cause shown.

Effective.

SEC. 2. And be it enacted, That this act shall take effect
from the date of its passage.

Approved March 27, 1896.

CHAPTER 94.

AN ACT to make valid the appointment of registers of voters
for "Hagerstown," and to legalize the entries made, acts
done and proceedings taken by them under the provisions of
Chapter 27 of the Acts of Assembly of this present session
(1896) of said General Assembly.

Preamble.

WHEREAS, By delay in the passage of chapter 27 of the
acts of the General Assembly of Maryland at this its session
of (1896,) providing for the appointment of registers of voters
in the town of "Hagerstown," and for the registration of voters
therein, it became impossible for the Governor to make the
appointments upon the date in said act specified, but did ap-
point said registers upon a day subsequent to the date provided
by this act; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, Notices of said registration, required by said
chapter 27 of the acts of 1896, were given in anticipation of
the passage of said act, and the appointments thereunder, by
which means, the public was fully notified of the days, hours
and places of registration in said town; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, The said registers, in the compliance with the
provisions of said act, have proceeded to perform, and have in
part performed, their duties in substance, if not in form, in
conformity to the provisions of said act; and

Preamble.

WHEREAS, All regularities, if any, made as aforesaid, were
committed without dishonest intent and in order to facilitate
the operation and carry out the intent of said Act of Assem-
bly; therefore
