1827 RESOLUTIONS,

Governor of the state of Virginia, a copy of an act passed by
the General Assembly of Maryland, at December session
eighteen hundred and twenty-one, chapter two hundred and
twenty-five, relative to the establishment of a toll bridge a-
cross the Potomac river, at or near Shepherdstpwn, together
with a copy of these proceedings.

A resolution requiring the Armorer at Annapolis to deliver to Captain
Thomas Hofie, of Harford county, certain arms and accoutrements.

Resolved, That the Armorer at Annapolis be, and he is

hereby required, to deliver to Captain Thomas Hope, of Har-
ford county, any arms or accoutrements, not exceeding sixty
of each, which the said Hope may select, on his giving,such
security for the safe keeping and return of the same, as the
Governor and Council may require.

A resolution requiring the Commissioners, Trustees and other authori-
ties of the several literary institutions, receiving pecuniary aid from
this state, to return annually to the superintendant of public instruc-
tion, the amount of funds, &c..

Annual return of
amouns received,
&c.

Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
commissioners, trustees and other authorities of the several
literary institutions, receiving pecuniary aid from this state,
shall each respectively, and the same arc severally herebv re-
quired to return, annually, on or before the first Monday of
December, to the superintendant of public instruction, the a-
mount of funds, or other aid received by them, detailing the
mode of its application, also the number, qualifications and
emoluments of the professors and teachers employed therein,
the rates of tuition, the number of free students admitted un-
der the act of December session, eighteen hundred and twen-
ty-three, entitled an act to disseminate literature in this state,
and the number of students qr pupils in the classical depart-
ment, and dead languages, in the english and mathematics,
in the Lancastrian, Monitorial or other system; and that the

said superintendant be required to present annually, an ab-
stract of such returns, with detailed remarks and information
to the legislature, on or before the first Tuesday in January ?
and that the resolution No. forty-nine, passed at December
session, eighteen hundred and twenty-four be? and the same
