the said commissioners to appoint and limit a tittle for flie
payment of the sums assessed on the property benefited to the
said register, and give at least thirty days notice by advertise-
ment, in two of the daily newspapers published in the city of
Baltimore, of the time limited for such payment, and also of
the rate of deduction to which each person shall be entitled on
making payment within the time so limited, and if any of the
sums assessed as aforesaid, or any part of any such sum shall
not be paid to the said register within the time so limited, the
collector of the said city shall proceed to sell the specific
pieces or parcels of property on which such unpaid sum or
sums shall have been assessed, in the manner, and after giving,
the notice directed by the act to which this a supplement, and
after making any such suit, and receiving the purchase mo-
ney, the said collector shall y a deed under his hand and seal,
to be acknowledged and recorced as other deeds for lands are
required to be, convey the lot or property so sold and paid folr
to the purchaser, his heirs and assigns, and such deed shall
vest in such purchaser, a good and sufficent estate in fee sim-
ple in the property or lot therein described.

SEC, 5. And be it enacted, That any person or persons not-
claiming title to any lot or piece of property upon which any
sum shall be assessed as aforesaid, may pay the amount of the
sum so assessed within the time limited, to the register of
the city of Baltimore, and obtain his certificate of having paid
such sum, without claiming title to the property, and such
payment shall vest in the person or persons paying, and his
or their heirs and assigns the lien on such lot or property
mentioned in the fifth section of the act to which this is a Sup--

SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That it shall be the duty of the
register of the city of Baltimore, within five days after the
damages and expenses so assessed shall be paid to him, to
give notice thereof in two of the daily newspapers of the city
of Baltimore, and that he is ready to pay the same on demand
to each person entitled and the commissioners appointed by,
or in virtue of this act, shall ha ve full power, and it shall
be their duty after the expiration of ten days next after the
first publication of such notice, and after paying or tendering
in payment the damages and expenses as aforesaid assessed,
to all who are entitled and may apply for the same within the
said period often days, to proceed to open Monument-street
and remove all obstructions from and out of the same, in the
manner provided by the act to which this is a supplement.

SEC. 7. And be it enacted. That the eleventh section of the
act to which this is a supplement, and the thirteenth section
thereof, which authorises and directs the commissioners to
shut up or cause to be shut up, part of the old Joppa road,
and such other parts of said act as are inconsistent with any
of the provisions of this supplement, are hereby repealed
