TEACHING AND LEARNING
Several groups of students interested in one way or another spent
a day with us at the Hall of Records. The usual procedure is for the
Archivist to speak to them about the Hall of Records and its work and
then for Mr. Skordas, Mr. Beach or Mr. Weatherly to take them on a
tour of the building and to explain in detail those things in which the
class might be especially interested.
The Twelfth Annual Institute on Genealogical Research of the
American University came to the Hall of Records July 18th, 1962. The
class was composed of the following students of genealogy: Mr. Floren
S. Preece, Mrs. Phyllis Preece, Miss Margaret Lunt, Miss Alice C.
Fiske, Mrs. Kelsey B. Gardner, Mr. Clarence M. Shaffer, Mr. James W.
Moore, Miss Lucile Donovan, Mrs. Virginia Z. Weisbrod, Mrs. Wilma
P. Yoder, Miss Kathryn Murphy, Mrs. Lynn Murphy, Mrs. Katherine
F. Viles, Miss Mary V. Manby, Miss Carroll Hart, Mrs. Lucelia Hen-
derson, Mrs. Grace F. Knowles.
On October 23rd, Dr. Radoff addressed a class of twelve Mid-
shipmen, members of the History Seminar of the USNA, at the Hall of
Records. The Midshipmen were accompanied by Professor Douglas R.
Lacey and Dr. William Belote of the USNA Department of English,
History & Government.
On October 25th, the same class of Midshipmen was conducted
on a tour of the Hall of Records along with Dr. Lacey, Dr. Belote and
Captain Charles J. Merdinger, Head of the Department of English,
History and Government of the United States Naval Academy.
John W. McCleary, Professor of History, State Teachers' College,
Towson, Maryland, brought his class of 25 students for a tour of the
Hall of Records on December 17th, 1962.
On May 1st, 1963, Dr. Rhoda Dorsey and her history students of
Goucher College visited the Hall of Records. Dr. Radoff talked to the
group and they toured the building.
On May 28th, 1963 the winter class of Archival Administration of
the American University under the direction of Dr. Oliver W. Holmes
was conducted by Dr. Radoff. The students were addressed by Dr.
Radoff and toured the Hall of Records. The class consisted of seven-
teen students.
