The students of the Twelfth Annual Institute in the Preservation and
Administration of Archives attended classes at the Hall of Records on June
27, 1958. Members of the class were as follows: A. R. Arias, Professor of
History, St. John's High School, Shreveport, Louisiana; Cornelia A. Bates, of
the Federal Reserve Board; Michael W. Beksha, Archivist, National Archives
and Records Service; D. H. Bocking, archives work, University of Saskatche-
wan; Robert D. Brinker, English teacher, Washington, D. C.; F. N. Clapper,
Chief, Registry and Archives, United Nations; Helen L. Davidson, Assistant
Archivist, Eli Lilly and Company, Indianapolis, Indiana; Lewis K. Demand,
Assistant Archivist of Wyoming; Carroll Hart, Assistant Archivist, Georgia
Department of Archives and History; G. Mendoza, Director, National Li-
brary and Archives, Sucre, Bolivia; Debra Padilla, student, University of
Venezuela; T. E. Sparrow, Archives Management, Commonwealth Bank of
Australia; Bernard Weilbrenner, Archivist, Public Archives of Canada; Juliet
Wolohan, Librarian, New York State Department of Education.
VISITS AND VISITORS
On July 24, 1957, the Georgia Archives Study Committee came to study
our plant and methods of operation. This distinguished group was composed
of Ben W. Fortson, Jr., Secretary of State; George B. Brooks, State Senator;
C. L. Moss, State Senator; Robert G. Stephens, Jr., A. A. Fowler, Jr. and W.
Mobley Howell, members of the Georgia House of Representatives. In addi-
tion, Leon de Valinger, Archivist of Delaware, and G. Philip Bauer, Assistant
to the Director of Archival Management at The National Archives, and
editor of The American Archivist, attended the conference. A luncheon was
offered the group by the Honorable Claude B. Hellmann, Secretary of State
of Maryland, and James P. Brock, Administrative Assistant.
The Technical Officer of the National Archives of India, Yashpal Kath-
palia, spent ten days, January 13-24, 1958, at the Hall of Records. He came
to make a study of our repair techniques and to demonstrate certain methods
in the same field developed by the Indian Archives. On January 16, the
Archivist of Delaware brought his repair technician, Alberta C. Warren, and
his microfilm technician, Ray Wilcutts to the Hall of Records for a demon-
stration by Mr. Kathpalia of "cold lamination."
