HALL OF RECORDS COMMISSION

The Hall of Records Commission is an ex-officio body created
by Chapter 18, Acts of 1935. The members of the Commission and
the offices which entitle them to membership are as follows:

Chief Judge, Court of Appeals:

Comptroller of the Treasury:

HONORABLE J. MILLARD TAWES................ Crisfield

President of the St. John's College:

President of the Maryland Historical Society:

HONORABLE GEORGE L. RADCLIFFE............ Baltimore

President of the Board of the Peabody Institute:

DR. J. HALL PLEASANTS...................... Baltimore

President of the Johns Hopkins University:

DR. ISAIAH BOWMAN......................... Baltimore

The fiscal year 1946 was the last full year of membership on
the Commission for two of its present members, Governor O'Conor
and Mr. Tawes. Governor O'Conor, who has been chosen as the
Democratic Party's nominee for the United States Senate, will re-
linquish the governorship at the end of his present term next Jan-
uary. At that time he will have been a member of the Commission
for eight of its eleven and a half years of existence. His knowledge
of the affairs of the Hall of Records and his sympathy with its ob-
jectives have made him an invaluable counsellor and one not easily
replaced.

No less serious will be the loss of Mr. Tawes who has served
equally as long as Governor O'Conor. Moreover, as the chief finan-
cial officer of the State he has been constantly called upon by the
Hall of Records for guidance in administering our business affairs.
