Our first task during the present fiscal year will be to complete
the Charles County work. This will make it possible for researchers
to find at the Hall of Records all the land records of Southern Mary-
land that have survived. We shall then have, at least through the
year 1788, the originals for Charles, Prince George's and Anne A-
rundel Counties; courthouse fires have destroyed the early land re-
cords for St. Mary's and Calvert Counties. We hope to finish or to
make substantial progress with Kent and Dorchester Counties and,
if possible, to begin the next series on our schedule, namely Queen
Anne's County.
