There is no evidence that Sower1s projected week-
ly newspaper was ever published, and, for lack of
evidence, it may be assumed that the Baltimore Bote
died with the century.
Sower's first printing venture in Baltimore, be-
sides the newspaper, is also a matter of doubt. In
the same, advertisement where he announced the opening
of his printing establishment in Baltimore, he also
advertised for sale, wholesale, or retail, the Federal
or New Ready Reckoner and Traders' Useful Assistant.97
While it is quite likely that Sower printed the book,
there is no proof of it in the advertisement, nor any
indication that it was printed in Baltimore. No copy
has been found, and it is a matter for conjecture,
only, whether it was Sower's first Baltimore imprint.
During 1795, Sower is known to have printed a German
translation of John Bunyan's Holy War.98 Count Rod-
