A political attack on Samuel Sterett who was a candidate for Congress from the Fourth District of Baltimore (see number
516). He was opposed to the erection of a Federal court in Maryland which would enforce the Treaty of Peace which con-
tained the clause that all English debts must be paid. Samuel Sterett, according to Tom Plain-Truth, owed over £6937 in
British debts and was going to use his every effort in Congress to hinder the establishment of Federal Courts in Maryland
for that reason. The identity of Tom Plain-Truth is not disclosed.
