1826.

erect a permanent stone bridge over the Conococheague creek,
on the road leading from Hagerstown to Mercersburgh, if they
shall be of opinion that the public convenience requires a bridge
to be erected at the said place; Provided, the sum raised or to
be raised by individual subscription, shall not be less than one
thousand dollars.

CHAP. 22

2. And be it enacted, That the said levy court be and they
are hereby authorised to determine and fix upon the plan, site
and dimensions of said bridge, and to enter into a contract or
contracts for the erection of the game, upon such terms, and in
such manner as they shall deem expedient.

3. And be it enacted, That the act passed at December ses-
sion one thousand eight hundred and twenty-four, chapter fifty,
and the same is hereby repealed.

CHAP. XXIII,

An Act extending the time for Fielder Cross, the Collector of Prince-
George's County, to complete bis Collection.

Passed Jan 19, 1827

Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the time limited by law for the payment into the treasury
of the revenue for the support of government by Fielder Cross,
ordered to be levied by the act of December session eighteen
hundred and twenty-four, chapter one hundred and fifty-June, be
and the same is hereby extended to the first day of May next;

Provided, that the said Fielder Cross shall, on or before the
first day of March next, give an additional bond and security,
to be approved of by the levy court of Prince-George's coun-
ty, conditioned for his faithfully collecting, paying, and account-
ing for all monies directed to be collected under the said act of
December session eighteen hundred and twenty-four, chapter
one hundred and fifty-nine, on or before the said first day of
May next

CHAP. XXIV.
An Act to authorise the Levy Court of Frederick County to levy a sum of
money for the purpose therein mentioned.

Passed Jan 16, 1827

WHEREAS it has been represented to this general assembly
by the petition of sundry inhabitants of Frederick county, that
the public convenience would be greatly promoted by the con-
struction of a bridge over the Linganore at Jacob Cronise's
mill; but that the probable cost of said bridge, if substantially
built, would far transcend the limit prescribed to their levy
court by the general law, in their appropriations for such pur-
poses; Therefore,

Preamble.

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the justices of the levy court of Frederick county, be
and they are hereby authorised and directed to levy, on the as-
sessable property of said county, such sum or sums of money
as they, in their discretion, shall deem sufficient and necessary,
for building a substantial stone bridge over the Linganore at
the public crossing near Jacob Cronise's mill, in said county.
