LAWS OF MARYLAND,

CHAP. 144,

Mills, thence with the pond up to a branch called Middle Neck
Branch, thence up said branch to a bridge called Middle Neck
fridge, it being a bridge on the road that divides Somerset and
Worcester comities, thence down the said road to the south west
corner of Doctor John Huston's lands, thence running with the
lines of said Hustorn's, bearing a south east direction, until it inter-
sects the branch on which the mills called Winder's, now Hum-
phrey's, are erected, thence down, by and with, the said branch,
including the said mills, thence by and with the creek leading
from said mills a west and by north course, until the line inter-
sect the west bank of the river Wicomico,, thence round said
bank, so as to include the property of William Hearns, until it
intersect the road leading from Salisbury to Spring Hill, thence
by and with the road until it intersects a road leading to Folk's,
now Bayly's mills, on the east side of a lot belonging to Elijah,
C. Johnson, and where he now resides, thence by and with said
road to the beginning.

5. And be it enacted, That the said commissioners shall meet
on the day when the annual election shall be held, and on such
other days as they shall deem expedient

CHAP. CXLV,

An Act to authorise ami empower the Levy Court of Frederick County to
levy a sum of money, and rebuild a Bridge, over Monocacy, on the road
leading from Taney-Town to Emmittsburg, in said County.

Levy authorised

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland
That the levy court of Frederick county be and they are here-
by authorised and required, to levy on the assessable property
in said county a sum, in their discretion, not exceeding three
thousand dollars, to be collected in three equal annual instal-
ments, to be applied to the, rebuilding a bridge over the river
Monocacy, as is hereinafter mentioned.

2. And be it enacted, That the said levy court shall imme-
diately after the first levy, issue proposals for rebuilding the
bridge over Monocacy river, where the road leading from Ta-
ney Town to Emmittsburg crosses the same, and contract with
one or more persons for rebuilding said bridge, in a good and
substantial manner, on the best possible terms, taking bond of
the said contractor or contractors, with sufficient security, for
the due and faithful performance of the contract.

3. And be it enacted, That whenever the Westminster and
Emmittsburg turnpike road is completed, the said bridge shall
not be taken in the measurement thereof, nor shall it be lawful
for the said company, or any person or persons whatsoever, to
exact, require or receive, any toll or pay for, passing said bridge,
but said bridge, when completed, shall be and remain a free
bridge forever thereafter.

CHAP. CXLVI.
An Act to authorise the Levy Court of Caroline County to Wild a Bridge
and open certain Roads in said County, and for other purposes.

WHEREAS it is represented to this general assembly, by the
petition of sundry inhabitants of Carolina county, that they Ta-
