the said subscription in the said book shall amount to the num-
ber to be determined upon by the master and wardens of said
lodge, the same shall be closed; Provided always, that in case
of the death, resignation, or refusal of any of the commission-
ers to act, the master and wardens of said lodge be and they
are hereby empowered to supply such vacancy or vacancies,
until the subscription book shall be closed; Provided fur-
ther, that every person offering to subscribe in the said book
in his own name, or in the name of any other person,
shall upon subscribing, pay to the attending commission-
ers one dollar for every share to be subscribed, for the purpose
of defraying the expences of said commissioners in taking such
subscriptions.

3. And be it enacted, That the sums so subscribed shall be
paid to the master and gardens of said lodge, in the manner fol-
lowing, to wit: One fourthpart thereof at the end of two weeks
after the subscription book shall be closed, and the remainder in
such sums, and at such times and places, as the master and ward-
ens of said lodge shall appoint, they giving at least ten days no-
tice of the payments so required in the newspaper aforesaid.

4. And be it enacted, That the master and wardens, for" the
time being, of Clinton Lodge number eighty -three, of free and
accepted masons, and their successors, be and they are hefeby
declared a body corporate, so far as to enable them to hold an
estate in fee simple in the lot of ground, which shall be chosen
by the commissioners of Chester-Town as the site for said ma-
sonic hall, and in the building which shall be thereupon erected.

An Act to revive and extend Itie provisions of an act, entitled, An act to pro-
vide for the appointment of Commissioners for the regularion and improve
ment of Salisbury, in Somerset and Worcester Counties.

I. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland
That the act, entitled, An act to provide for the appointment of
commissioners for the regulation and improvement of Salisbury
in Somerset and Worcester counties, passed at November ses-
sion eighteen hundred and tw;elve, be and the same is hereby
revived and declared to be in full force, except fuch parts as are
inconsistent with this act

2. And be it enacted, That the election of commissioners fo
the said town shall be on some day before the last day of May
next, after five days public notice thereof, and of the place of
holding said election, shall have been given, by advertisement
act up at the taverns in said town, signed by some justice of the
peace of either of the said counties, and the annual election there
after shall be on some day to be appointed by, the commission
ers, of which ten days notice shall be given.

3. And be it enacted, That the commissioners shall meet a
soon after their election as convenient, and may appoint a bailiff
for the said town, and a clerk to record their proceedings, whom
they shall have power to remove from time to time as they may
see proper.
