CHAP. 124.

Debtors not to
be deprived of re-
medies they had
against original
sheriffs

4. And be it enacted, That nothing in this act shall be con-
strued to take away or deprive the respective debtors for taxes,
other public dues and officers fees, cf the same remedies which
they had against the original sheriff and collector, in case where
nothing is alleged to be due, or the distress or execution are ille-
gally conducted, but the same shall exist in full force and virtue
against the said securities, and each of them.

CHAP. CXXV.
A Supplement to an act to incorporate the Town of Williams-Port in
Washington County.

Election male va-
lid

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That the election held in the town of Williams-Port, in Wash-
ington county, on the first Monday of March last, for the elec-
tion of a burgess and commissioners for said town, be and the
same is hereby confirmed and made valid, to all intents and pur-
poses.

Acts of Burgess,
&c. made legal

2. And be it enacted, That the acts and proceedings of the
said burgess and commissioners, be and they are hereby made
legal and valid in law, to all intents and purposes.

First election to be
held in April

3. And be it enacted, That the next election for burgess and
commissioners shall be held on the first Monday in April next
at the house of Joseph Holman, and on the first Monday in
March in each and every year thereafter, at such place as shall
be designated by the burgess and commissioners aforesaid, of
which due notice shall be given, by advertisement set up at the
most public places in the said town.

Preamble

CHAP. CXXVI
An Act to make public a Road therein mentioned.

WHEREAS it is represented by the petition of sundry inhabi-
tants of Anne-Arundel county, that they are at this time suf-
fering great inconvenience from the closing up of a private road
leading from the post road from Annapolis to Pig Point, to the
road leading from Pig Point to Tracy's Landing and Herring
Creek church, which road has been in use from time immemo-
rial, and is only one mile and a half in length; Therefore,

Road made public

1. Be it enacted by the General Assembly of Maryland,
That from and after the passage of this act, the private road in
Anne-Arundel county, leading from the Annapolis post road to
Pig Point, through the lands of Susanna J. Gott, Nicholas Ow-
ens of Isanc's heirs, Jenningham Drury's heirs, Claudius F. Le-
grund, and Samuel Dealc, to the main road leading from Pig
Point to Tracy's Landing and Herring Creek Church, be and
the same is hereby made public, and shall forever hereafter be
used and repaired as other county roads are.

CHAP. CXXVIT.
An Act Supplementary to an Act, entitled, An Act authorising the Com-
missioners to lay out a Road in Montgomery and Anne-Arundel Counties,
passed December session eighteen hundred and twenty -three, chapter for-
ty-two.
