AN ACT concerning
Title 7. "Court Fines, Forfeitures & Imprisonment"
For the purpose of repealing sections about the summonsing of juries, the failure
of a summonsed defendant to appear, trial at next term after return day, continuances,
reinstatement of cases referred to arbitration, fixing of salaries for bailiffs and court
crier, authority to employ stenographers, their qualifications and terms of office, their
duty to furnish transcripts, appointment of temporary stenographers, appointment of
master for juvenile causes, appointment of director of probation, prohibition of
appearance fees in certain cases, preparation of annual list of state's witnesses and their
payment to testify, assessment of costs to be paid by defendant, salaries of judges,
entrance of judgments on index, purchase of furniture, payment from surplus revenue
by clerk, recording and indexing land and chattel records, information required to
record, maintenance of general index for deeds, supervision of such index, charging of
fee for each name used in such index, transcripts conforming to written order of judges,
office hours of clerk, receipt of plats for recording, transcription and maintenance of
plats, certified copies of plats, appraisers used by Orphan's Court, maintenance of index
by Register of Wills, certificate of letters testamentary, authority to search and copy
records of City Orphans' Court, maintenance of list of voters for jury duty, appointment
of jury judge and jury commissioner, method of selecting jury panels, number on petit
jury panel, number on grand jury panel, drawing petit jurors, drawing grand jurors,
excusing from serving of jurors, method of filling jury vacancies, time of service for petit
jurors, term of grand jury sessions, authority to appoint clerk to grand jury,
compensation of jurors, dispositions of fines, when collected by sheriff, contents of
statement accompanying payment over of fines, violation of article, confiscation of
money seized, establishment of prison farms; and repealing and reenacting the section
on the administration and operation of the office of sheriff.
