(4) Each] EXCEPT AS OTHERWISE PROVIDED IN THIS CHAPTER,

AN applicant shall take and pass an objective written examination to determine fitness
for a license.

(4) AN APPLICANT REQUIRED TO TAKE AN EXAMINATION
UNDER THIS CHAPTER SHALL:

(I) FILE WITH THE BOARD AN APPLICATION ON THE
FORM THAT THE BOARD REQUIRES BEFORE THE FIRST TUESDAY ON
THE MONTH THAT THE EXAMINATION IS SCHEDULED; AND

(II) PAY TO THE BOARD AN EXAMINATION FEE THAT IS
SET BY THE BOARD.

(5) THE EXAMINATION FEE ENTITLES THE APPLICANT TO
TAKE THE EXAMINATION ONCE.

[(5)] (6) The passing grade shall be 70 percent, and the notice for the
examination shall specify the passing grade.

[(6)] (7) The examination promulgated by the Board shall require
knowledge of all applicable codes or other rules, laws, or principles of electrical
installations from a list of questions submitted by the MARYLAND Uniform Electrical
Licensing Examination Committee, INC.

38-7.

A. AN APPLICANT WHO QUALIFIES FOR A LICENSE UNDER THIS
CHAPTER SHALL PAY TO THE BOARD A LICENSE FEE SET BY THE BOARD.

B. ON PAYMENT OF THE LICENSE FEE, THE BOARD SHALL ISSUE A
LICENSE TO EACH APPLICANT WHO MEETS THE REQUIREMENTS OF THIS
CHAPTER.

[38-7.] 38-8.

A. UNLESS A LICENSE IS RENEWED FOR A 2-YEAR TERM AS
PROVIDED IN THIS CHAPTER, THE LICENSE EXPIRES ON JUNE 30 OF EACH
ODD-NUMBERED YEAR.

B. Each [and every] license issued under the provisions of this chapter shall be
evidence in any court of St. Mary's County of the business for which the license IS
issued for [a] THE period [not to exceed one (1) year from the date hereof. All licenses
and renewals of same shall expire on the first day of May in each year] THAT THE
LICENSE IS IN EFFECT.

[38-8.

No person granted a license under the provisions of this chapter shall install or
repair electrical wires, conductors or apparatus for electric light, heat or power
