Mr. Denison proposed the following substitute to Mr. Gor-
don's message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES.

April 26th, 1861.
Gentlemen of the Senate :

The House of Delegates has read your message and de-
clines to concur therein.

MILTON Y. KIDD,

Chief Clerk.
On motion of Mr. Landing,

The whole subject was laid upon the table.
On motion of Mr. Lawson,

The House adjourned until to-morrow morning at ten
o'clock.

SATURDAY, April 27, 1861.

The House met, pursuant to adjournment, and was opened
with prayer by Rev. Mr. Seymour.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members :

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Morgan, Rasin, Med-
ders, Briscoe, Parran, Compton, Burgess, Worthington,
Denison, Quinlan, Renshaw, Jones, of Talbot, Chaplain,
Dennis, of Somerset, Long, Lawson, Keene, Holland, Max-
well, Bryan, Wootten, Jones, of Prince George's, Legg,
Starkey, Jacobs, Landing, Dennis, of Worcester, Kessler,
Claggett, Routzhan, Johnson, Salmon, Straughn, Goldsbo-
rough, Warfield, Winans, Brune, Pitts, Harrison, Thomas,
Wallis, Sangston, Morfit, Scott, Wilson, of Harford, Bayless,
McCoy, Eakle, Brining, Griffith, Gordon, Barnard, McCleary,
Roop, Gorsuch, Mills, Turner and Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. McCleary offered the following:
Ordered, That the Speaker appoint four police officers, a
folder and page for the House.
