upon the clergy of Frederick city, and invite them to attend,
alternately, to open the daily sessions of this body with
prayer,

Which was adopted. .

The Speaker appointed Messrs. Mills and Johnson said
committee.

Mr. Long offered the following :

Ordered, That when this House adjourn it stand adjourned
until to-morrow morning at 10 o'clock.

Which was adopted.

The following message was received from the Senate :

BY THE SENATE,
April 26th, 1861.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates:

We propose to appoint a joint committee, to consist of five
members of each House, for the purpose of considering what
business is most important, for our early action, and of re-
commending such measures as they may deem most necessary,
in view of the extraordinary consideration ; and we have ap-
pointed Messrs. Yellott. McKaig, Whitaker, H. H Golds-
borough and Watkins, on said committee, on the part ol the
Senate.

Secretary.
Mr. Gordon proposed the following message:

BY THE HOUSE OF DELEGATES,

April 26th, 1861.
Gentlemen of the Senate:

The House of Delegates has received your message, asking
for the appointment of a joint committee of conference and
concur therein, and appoint Messrs. ———— to meet your
committee.

MILfON Y. KIDD,

Chief Clerk.

Mr. McCleary moved to amend the message by striking out
"five" and inserting "ten.."
