Mr. Coudy, from a select committee, reported favorably
upon a bill, entitled, An Act to amend the LXXXII Article
of the Code of Public General Laws, by exempting a certain
amount of property from execution ;
Which was read the first time and referred to the commit-
tee on the Judiciary.
Mr. Burgess offered the following :
Ordered, that the Speaker be requested to appoint a Stand-
ing Committee of seven, of this House, upon printing, and
that the said committee be instructed to inquire into the man-
ner in which the printing for this House has been and is
now being executed, and whether it is done with that
promptitude and dispatch as to enable members to dispatch
the public business without unnecessary delay and if not to
provide for the prompt performance of the same.
Which was adopted.
And Messrs. Burgess, Jones, of Prince George's, Brown,
Landing, Stake and Ford were constituted said committee.
Mr. Chaplain offered the following:
Ordered, That the committee on Federal Relations, to whom
was referred the messages of the Governor, with reference to
the commission of certain acts by the authorities or citizens
of the State of Virginia infringing the rights of the citizens
of Maryland, and the honor of the State, be instructed to re-
port, that a messenger be appointed by joint resolution of the
Senate and House of Delegates, to communicate with the-
Governor of Virginia, with reference to the subject matter
of said messages, and report to the General Assembly,
whether or not certain citizens of Maryland, during the fire
at Harper's Ferry, went over to Virginia, and appropriated
and brought to this State certain arms from Harper's Ferry ^
which, .
