Mr. Chaplain offered the following:

Ordered, That the committee on Claims be and is hereby
authorized to pay John S. Biddison, Sergeant-at-arms, twen-
ty-five dollars for summoning witnesses under an order of
the House;

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Chaplain,

It was ordered, That when this House adjourns it adjourn
to meet at 9 o'clock, A. M., to-morrow morning.

On motion of Mr. Kessler,

It was ordered, That it be entered upon the journal of the
House that D. W. Naill is detained therefrom on account of
indisposition.

Mr. Kessler also made the following

REPORT:

The committee to whom was referred the memorial of
Upton Worthington, Charles Hendry, and others, beg leave
to submit the following report—

That we agree with the memorialists that some legislation
is needed to make more difficult the running away of slaves,
and to prevent negroes from frequenting military camps, but
