bers of the General Assembly, and concur therein, and have
appointed Messrs. Bradley and Franklin, on the part of the
Seriate.

Mr. Jacobs, from Select Committee, reported favorably
upon a bil entitled, an act to prohibit Gipsey encampments
und travelling fortune tollers, by adding a new Article to the
Code of Public General Laws ;

Which was read the first, and by special order the second
time.

On motion of Mr. Jacobs,
The second reading of the bill was re-considered.

On motion of Mr. Pitts,

Said bill was then referred to the committee on the Judi-
ciary .

Mr. Jacobs, from a select committee, reported favorably
upon a bill entitled, An Act to repeal section 49, of Article
LVI in relation to free negroes remaining out of the State
more than thirty days ; and section 50 of the same article, in
relation to the granting of permits by the Orphans' Courts
to free negroes to remain out of and return into this State for
a period longer than thirty days ;

Which was read the first time, and
On motion of Mr. Jacobs,

It was ordered to a second reading.

Said bill being upon its second reading, Mr. Gordon pro-
posed the following amendment:

Strike out, in Section 1st, the words "remain over one day,
and—"

Which was adopted.

Mr. Stake moved to refer it to the committee on the Judi-
ciary.

Mr. Compton moved the previous question ;

Which was sustained.

The question then being—"shall the main question be now
put?"

It was sustained.

The question then recurred upon the original motion ;
