Routzalin, Johnson, Salmon, Naill, Goldsborough, Brune,
Harrison, Thomas, Sangston, Morfit, Scott, Wilson, Bayless,
McCoy, Eakle, Brining, Fiery, Griffith, Gordon, McCleary,
Gorsuch, Mills, Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.
Mr. Lawson offered the following:

Ordered, That it be entered upon the journal that J. H.
W. Stanford, of Somerset county, is detained from his seat
ia this House by sickness;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Welch offered the following;

Ordered, That it Le entered upon the journal that Mr. Du-

rant, of St, Mary's county, is absent from this House by sick-
ness in his family;

Which was adopted,

Mr. Maxwell offered the following;

Ordered, That it be entered upon the journal of this House
that Mr. Stake is detained from this Huuse by sickness;

Which was adopted.

Mr. Maxwell offered the following;

Ordered,, That the committee on Claims be directed to
close the journal of accounts to Thursday, the 8th of August
inclusive, and to issue no certificates for the pay of the mem-
bers and officers until the Legislature shall have adjourned,

Mr. MeCleary moved to lay the order on the table,
Which was not sustained.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the
order,

It was not adopted.

Mr. Maxwell offered the following.

Ordered, That the committee on Claims be directed to pay
to H. Winchester, the sum of $30 for the use of furniture;
which,

On motion of Mr. McCleary,
Was referred to the committee on Claims.
Mr. Pitts, from a select committee reported favorably up-
