340 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [Aug. 1,

Mr. Johnson presented the petition of Gabriel Becklie,
Captain of the United Guards;

Which was read and referred to Messrs. Miller, Johnson,
Warfield, Scott and Durant.

On motion of Mr. Miller,

Leave was granted to the Cecil county delegation to intro-
duce a bill entitled, an act to amend article 8 of the Public
Local Laws relating to Cecil county, by repealing section 84
thereof, relating to the appointment of Bailiff, in the town of
Elkton, in said county.

On motion of Mr. Sangston,

Leave was granted Messrs. Sangston, Gordon, Briscoe,
Holland and Naill, to report a bill to amend the Act of
1826, ch. 123, entitled, an act to incorporate the Baltimore
and Ohio Rail Road Company.

On motion of Mr. Legg,

Leave was granted the Queen Anne delegation to intro-
duce a bill to amend section 75 of article 17 of Public Local
Laws.

On motion of Mr. Miller,

Leave was granted the Cecil delegation to introduce a bill
entitled, an act to authorize Dr. Jno. Gilpin, of Cecil County,
to close a public road in said county.

On motion of Mr. Scott,

Leave was granted to the committee on the Judiciary to
introduce a bill entitled, an act for the relief of the Northern
Central Railway Company;

Which was referred to the committee on the Judiciary.

Mr. Wallis presented the communication of the Mayor of
the city of Baltimore, with accompanying papers;

Which were read and referred to the committee on Federal
Relations.

On motion of Mr. Dennis, of Somerset,

Leave was granted to the Somerset delegation to report a
bill to amend article 19, section 136, of the Code of Public
