THURSDAY, August 1, 1861.

The House met and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Mr. Jones.

Present at the call of the roll the following members:

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Rasin, Medders,
Welch, Mackiibin, Briscoe, Ford, Denison, Quuinlan, Ren-
shaw, Jones, of Talbot,, Chaplain, Dennis, of Somerset, Hol-

land, McIntire, Maxwell, Miller, Legg, Kessler, Claggett,
Johnson, Salmon, Naill, Goldsborough, Warfield, Brune,
Winans, Pitts, Harrison, Thomas, Wallis, Sangston, Morfit,
Scott, Wilson, Bayless, McCoy, Brining, Fiery, Griffith, Gor-

don, Barnard, McCleary, Gorsuch, Mills, Turner.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Griffith presented the petition of Allen Bowie Davis,
to be relieved from the payment of a certain tax on commis-
sions;

Which was read and referred to the committee on Ways
and Means.

Mr. Maxwell presented the petition of the Commissioners
of Chesapeake city, relating to repealing a section of the
Code of Public Local Laws;

Which was read and referred to the Cecil county delega-
tion.

Mr, Wallis presented the petition of J. W. Blackburn, for
relief;

Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.

Mr. Fiery presented the petition of John H. Reed, for in-
demnification against loss of property;

Which was read and referred to the committee on Claims,

Mr. Gordon presented the petition of Jacob Eakle, for
relief;

Which was read and referred to the committee on the Ju-
diciary.
