So the vote was reconsidered.

The question then recurring upon the adoption of the order,

On motion of Mr. Legg,
It was laid upon the table.

On motion of Mr. Pitts,

Those gentlemen who were not present on yesterday when
the vote upon the resolutions of Mr. Dennis were taken, were
permitted to record their votes upon said resolutions.

Affirmative—Messrs. Morgan, Medders, Compton, Worth-

ington, Goldsborough and Brining.

Negative—Messrs. Keene and Routzahn.

Mr. Chaplain presented the petition of Levin H. Campbell
and others of Talbot county, with reference to violation of
private rights of citizens of said county by a detachment of
Federal troops sent to Easton by order of Gov. Hicks, for the
purpose of seizing the arms of the volunteer companies, and
also those deposited in the State Armory at that place;

Which was read and referred to the select committee on that
subject.

Mr. Compton offered the folio win g:

Ordered, That the committee on Claims pay the engrossing
committee or such of them, with their clerk, as remained
over at the May term or may remain over at this term, two
days per diem.

Which was adopted.

On motion of Mr. Holland,

Leave was granted to the committee on Military Affairs to
report a bill providing for a reduction of the salary of the
Adjutant General.

Mr. Morfit offered the following:

Ordered, That the committee on Ways and Means be, and
they are hereby required to ascertain and report at an early
day to this House, what standing appropriations, offices and
compensations, if any, can be reasonably dispensed with or
diminished; and generally what reduction in the expenses of
the State can properly be made;

Which was adopted.
