any action on my part has been taken to cause said arms to
be delivered up to the State authority, in order to be given
up to Captain Moore."

To the first inquiry: That it is impertinent.

To the second: That I refer you to General Butler for an
answer.

To the third: That chapter 188 of the Acts of 1860, makes
it the duty of the Adjutant General to distribute the arms in
conformity with the requirements of the Code of Public Gen-
eral Laws, and that the inquiry should be addressed to him.
