The order as amended, was then adopted.
On motion of Mr. Quinlan,

Leave was granted to the Judiciary committee to bring in
a bill to the effect that all religious meetings of negroes, shall
be conducted under the guidance of a slave-holder of the im-
mediate neighborhood.

Mr. Starkey presented the following petition of Richard
B. Carmichael and 48 others, against the adjournment of the
Legislature sine die:

Which, on motion of Mr. Goldsborough,

Was referred to a select committee, consisting of Messrs.
Goldsborough, Starkey and Chaplain, and ordered to be en-
tered on the journal and one thousand copies to be printed
for the use of the House.

On motion of Mr. Pitts,,

Leave was granted to the Baltimore city delegation to re-
port a bill entitled, an act to repeal sections 619 and 620 of
article IV of the Code of Public Local Laws, and to enact the
following substitute therefor in relation to Justices of the
Peace and Constables for Baltimore city.

The following communication was received from the Execu-
tive per hands of Thomas J. Wilson, Esq:

STATE OF MARYLAND,

EXECUTIVE CHAMBER,
Frederick City, June 17, 1861.
Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

In response to your order of this date, informing me that
certain arms, shipped by the Adjutant General on board the
schooner S. B. Nelson, were seized on the 14th May by Gen-
eral Butler, and enquiring "whether said arms were seized
with my knowledge and consent; for what reason they are
kept from the possession of Captain Moore;" and "whether
