MONDAY, May 13, 1861.

The House met, and was opened with prayer, by the Rev,
Dr. Zacharias.

Present at the call of the roll the following members :
Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Morgan, Rasin, Medders,
Welch, Mackubin, Compton, Ford, Worthington, Denison,
Quinlan, Renshaw, Jones, of Talbot, Chaplain, Keene, Hol-

land, Maxwell, Miller, Bryan, Wootten, Jones, of Prince
George's, Legg, Starkey, Landing, Kessler, Claggett, Rout-
zahn, Johnson, Salmon, Straughn, Goldsborough, Warfield,
Brune, Winans, Pitts, Harrison, Thomas, Wallis, Sangston,
Morijt, Scott, Wilson, of Harford, Bayless, McCoy, Eakle,
Brining, Fiery, Stake, Harding, McCleary, Roop, Gorsuch
and Mills.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Medders presented the following :

ELKTON, CECIL COUNTY, MD.,

May 6th, 1861.
To the Eon.

Speaker of the House of Delegates.

SIR :—I hereby tender my resignation as a member of the
House of Delegates of Maryland ; I do this in consequence of
having removed from Cecil county, and the doubts I entertain
as to my qualification growing out of my change of residence
from this, the county, I was elected to represent.

Injustice to the people of Cecil county, my former constitu-
ents, I trust that immediate steps may be taken to have the
vacancy filled.

I have the honor to be,

very respectfully, your ob't, servant,

ALEX. WILSON.

On motion of Mr. Maxwell,
The resignation was accepted.
Mr. Salmon proposed the following:

Ordered, That the Librarian be instructed to take charge of
all the writing material, &c., which the members leave in
this house and to hold it in readiness for the next meeting,
on the 4th of June.
