Which was adopted.
Mr. Maxwell proposed the following :
Ordered, That the committee on Claims be directed to pay
the Isabella Gas Works whatever amount may be due for
gas, consumed by the Senate and House ;
Which was adopted.
Also the following:
Ordered, That it be entered upon the Journal, that the
thanks of the members of this House be returned to Mr. Win-
chester, of the Frederick Female Seminary, for the use of the
desks fur nished by him, and that a committee be appointed
to discharge said duty ;
Which was adopted ; and
On motion of Mr. Goldsborough,
Mr. Maxwell was appointed a committee of one to wait
upon Mr. Winchester to carry the order into effect.
On motion of Mr. Kessler,
The House took up for consideration the order offerred by
him in reference to the payment of the Ministers, who con-
ducted Divine services for the General Assembly.
Mr. Goldsborough proposed the following :
Resolved by the General Assembly of Maryland, That the
Committee on Claims pay to the ministers, for performing
Divine service to this General Assembly of Maryland, one
hundred dollars, to be equally divided between them;
Pending the consideation of which,
Mr. Kessler withdrew his motion ;
And the resolution was then read the first, and by special
order the second time, and passed by yeas and nays, as fol-
low:
