tee on Federal Relations.

On motion of Mr. Pitts,
The House, at 6 o'clock, adjourned.

FRIDAY, May 10, 1861.

The House met, and was opened with prayer by the Rev.
Dr. Diehl.

Present at the call of the roll, the following members :

Messrs. Kilbourn, Speaker, Durant, Morgan, Rasin, Med-
ders, Briscoe, Compton,. Burgess, Ford, Worthington,
Denison, Quinlan, Renshaw, Jones, of Talbot, Chap-

lain, Long, Lawson, Keene, Holland, Miller, Bryan,
Jones, of Prince George's, Starkey, Jacobs, Landing, Dennis,
of Worcester, Kessler, Claggett, Routzalm, Johnson, Salmon,
Naill, Straughn, Goldsborough, Warfield, Brune, Winans,
Pitts, Harrison, Thomas, Wallis, Sangston, Morfit,, Scott,-
Wilson, of Harford, Bayless, McCoy, Coudy, Eakle, Brining,
Fiery, Griffith, Harding, Gordon, Barnard, McCleary, Gor-

such, Milks, Turner and Brown.

The proceedings of yesterday were read.

Mr. Griffith presented the petition of A. B. Davis and
others of Montgomery county, for a State Convention, and an
appropriation to arm the citizens of Maryland to defend their
homes ;

Which was referred to the committee on Federal Relations.

Also, the petition of A. W. Hobbs.and others of Montgom-
ery county, against the passage of the Safety Bill;

Which was referred to the Joint Special Committee of the
House and Senate.

Mr. Quinlan presented the petition of Dr. D. Gittings
and 220 citizens of the 11th district of Baltimore county,
praying for an immediate soverign convention of the people
of the State;

Which was referred to the committee on Federal Rela-
tions.

Also, the petition of Benj. Ringold and 65 citizens of the
