98 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS May 9,

Mr. Heckart, on the part of the Committee on Militia, reported
unfavorably on

A bill, to amend the sixty-third article of the Code of Public
General Laws, relating to the Enrollment of and Drafting of the
Militia.

On motion of Mr. Yellott,
The report was laid on the table.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates returned Senate bill, en-
titled,

An act to release from the payment of interest, the sureties on
the official bond of Samuel L. Duhamel, Collector of Taxes for
the first election district of Queen Anne's county, in the year
eighteen hundred and fifty-seven.

Endorsed "passed by yeas and nays."
Also, a House bill, entitled,

An act to authorize and empower John P. Miller, Chief Bailiff
of the town of Rockville, to collect the taxes imposed by the
Commissioners of said town.

Read and referred to Messrs. Duvall, Kimmel, and Franklin.
The Senate adjourned until three o'clock.

EVENING SESSION.

THURSDAY, May 9th, 1861.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, moved a call of the Senate,
when the following Senators answered to their names:

Messrs. Blackistone, Bradley, Goldsborough, of Talbot, Kim-
mel, Nuttle, Stone, and Yellott—7.
