Baltimore, and all persons who acted under the orders of the
Mayor or of the Board of Police of Baltimore city in their efforts
to maintain peace and good order, and prevent further strife, on
and after the occurrences of the nineteenth of April, eighteen
hundred and sixty-one, in said city, from prosecution for or
in consequence of their acts or obedience to said orders.

Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs. Yellott,
Lynch, and Watkins.

On motion of Mr. Dashiell,

Leave was granted Messrs. Dashiell, Blackistone, and Golds-
borough, of Dorchester, to report a bill relating to public
schools in Somerset county.

Mr. Kimmel submitted the following resolution :

Resolved, By the Senate and House of Delegates, That in ac-
cordance with custom at Annapolis, the National Flag be hoisted
on this building while the General Assembly of Maryland is in
session, for

" Tis the Star Spangled Banner, Oh! long may it wave,
O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave."

Which \vas read.

Mr. McKaig submitted resolutions passed by a public meeting
of the citizens of District No. 15, in Allegany county.

Which were read and referred to the special committee.

Mr. Gardiner, from a select committee, reported

A bill to amend the sixty-third article of the Code of Public
General Laws, relating to Enrollment and Drafting of the
Militia.

Which was read the first time, and

On motion of Mr. Kimmel,
Was referred to the Committee on Militia.
Mr. Bradley, from a select committee, reported

A bill to release from the payment of interest the sureties on
the official bond of Samuel L. Duhamel, Collector of Taxes for
the first election district of Queen Anne's county in the year
eighteen hundred and fifty-seven.

Which was read the first time.

On motion of Mr. Bradley,
