So the Senate adopted the substitute.

Mr. Heckart from the Committee on Militia, reported the fol-
lowing :

A bill, entitled, An act to provide for the payment of a sum of
money to Captain Becklie, of the United Guards of Frederick
county, for services rendered under order of the Governor.

Mr. Kimmel offered to the first section the following

AMENDMENT:

Strike out "A. L. Jarrett," and insert "Dennis Claude."
The yeas and nays being demanded, appeared as follows :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs. Bradley, Kimmel,
Goldsborough, of Talbot; Stone—4.

NEGATIVE.

Messrs. Brooke, President; Heckart,

Blackistone, McKaig,

Duvall, Miles,

Dashiell, Townsend,

Franklin, Watkins,

Gardiuer, Whitaker—12.

So the Senate rejected the amendment.
Said bill was then read the second time.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the following
bills:

A bill, entitled, An act to repeal sections 880 and 881, of the
4th Article of the Code of Public Local Laws, relating to
the collection of taxes, and the limitation of the time therefor;
and to substitute for said sections, the following sections, extend-
ing the time of such limitations ————;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Judicial Proceedings.

A bill, entitled, An act to repeal the 890th section of the 4th
Article of the Code of Public Local Laws, giving certain powers
to single justices of the peace in the city of Baltimore, in relation
to landlords and tenants, and to substitute therefor a section in-
creasing the power of such justices in the premises;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Judical Proceedings.
