Ordered, That the Committee on Claims pay to Quynn & Ritter
two dollars and twenty-five cents, for articles furnished for the
use of the Senate, as per account rendered.

On motion of Mr. Duvall,

Ordered, That it be entered on the Journal that the absence of
the Secretary of the Senate is caused by reason of sickness.

On motion of Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot,

Leave was granted Messrs. Goldsborough, of Talbot, Gardiner
and Duvall, to report a bill to refund to Samuel T. Hopkins and
John Donovan, certain taxes erroneously paid by them into the
Treasury.

On motion of Mr. Duvall,

Leave was granted Messrs. Duvall, Kimmel and McKaig, to
report a bill repealing section 9, Article 66, of the Code of Public
General Laws, and adding in lieu thereof the following————;

On motion of Mr. Stone,

The order in relation to the repeal of the Rules of the Senate,
passed June 24th, 1861, was taken up.

Mr. Miles submitted the following as a substitute:

Ordered, That the second and third orders, of a series of orders
reported by the Senator from Allegany from a select committee,
and adopted by the Senate on the 24th of June, ultimo, as a part
of the Rules for its government, the same be and are hereby
repealed.

The question was taken on the substitute.

The yeas and nays being demanded, appeared as follows:
