Mr. Duvall, from the Committee on Finance, reported the fol-
lowing:

A bill, entitled, An act making appropriation for the payment
of the expenses of the extra session of the General Assembly of
Maryland;

Which was read the first time.

Mr. McKaig, from the select committee, to whom was referred
the question of the attendance on the part of the Senators, sub-
mitted the following orders as rules for the regulation of the Senate,
in cases where the Senators refuse to attend;

Ordered, That any Senator being present at the seat of govern-
ment, and being notified that his attendance in the Senate is re-
quired and refuses to attend, shall be fined one hundred dollars,
which said sum shall be paid for the use of the State, before the
absenting Senator shall be entitled to recover either per diem
or mileage, as a member of this Body, unless the Senate upon
hearing his excuse for absence, shall otherwise order.

Ordered, That no Senator who fails to attend the meeting of
the Senate from day to day, shall be entitled to receive per diem
except for the days he is actually present, unless specially allowed
by a vote of the Senate, after hearing the excuse of his absence.

Ordered, That any Senator who leaves the seat of government
for more than one day, without leave of the Senate first obtained,
shall pay a fine of twenty dollars, before he shall be entitled to re-
ceive per diem or mileage for his attendance as a Senator.
