On motion of Mr. Whitaker.

Ordered, That a committee of three be appointed by the Presi-
dent of the Senate, to inquire how many employees the Senate
now has, and whether any of such employees can be discharged
without detriment to public weal.

The President appointed Messrs. Whitaker, Franklin and
Duvall.

Mr. Dashiell, from a select committee, reported favorably the
following:

A bill, entitled, An act to pay L. L. Waters a certain sum of
money;

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Finance.

The Senate adjourned until 5 o'clock, P. M.

Leave was granted the Committee on Finance to report a bill,
entitled, An act making appropriation for the payment of the
expenses of the Extra Session of the General Assembly of Mary-
land,
