General Assembly, and concur therein, and have appointed
Messrs, Bradley and Franklin on the part of the Senate.

Which was read, assented to, and sent to the House of Dele-
gates.

Mr. Lynch submitted the following resolution:

Whereas, The condition of our country is such, that "civil
war," with all its impending horrors, is about to break upon us,
und from our geographical position, the lives and property,
(both public and private,) of our citizens will be more endan-
gered than that of any other portion of the country, it becomes
our duty as well as our interest, to exhaust all means of concil-
iation and compromise, without relinquishing our Constitutional
rights, therefore,

Resolved, That the joint committee of the two Houses be
requested to take into consideration, the propriety of recommend-
ing the appointment of a committee consisting of————————,
to wait on the President of the United States, the President of
the Southern Confederacy, and the Governor of Virginia, with a
view of bringing about some understanding, whereby the danger
may be averted; civil war, the destruction of the lives and pro-
perty of our citizens, be prevented, and that they report by
resolution, or otherwise.

Which was read, and referred to the joint select committee.

The Clerk of the House of Delegates delivered the following
bills:

A bill, entitled, An art to amend the fourth article of the
Code of Public Local Laws, by repealing the 161, 162, 163,
164, 165, 166, 167, 168, 169, 170, 172, and 173, sections
thereof.

Which was read the first time, and referred to the Committee
on Judicial Proceedings.

A bill, entitled, An act to amend the 17, 19, 26, 27, and 29,
sections of article fifty-four, of the Code of Public Genera!
Laws, relating to the Land Office.

Which was read the first time, and referred to Messrs,
Goldsborough, of Dorchester Dashiell, and Franklin,
