Mr. Yellott submitted the following message :

BY THE SENATE,

May 13th, 1861.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message, proposing to adjourn on
Wednesday next. In reply, \ve respectfully suggest that there
are various measures of public importance yet not finally acted
on, and which, in our judgment, should be acted upon before the
adjournment. We therefore respectfully propose the appointment
of a Joint Committee of conference, to consist of four members
of the Senate and four members of the House, to confer and
report in regard to the unfinished business, and also in regard to
the time of adjournment.

We have appointed Messrs. ————, ————, ———— and
————., on the part of the Senate, as members of said committee.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Dorchester, offered as a substitute:

BY THE SENATE,

May 13th, 1861.

Gentlemen of the House of Delegates :

We have received your message, proposing that the two
Houses adjourn on Wednesday next, 15th instant, to meet again
in the City of Frederick, on the 4th day of June, 1861, and re-
spectfully decline to accede thereto.

We respectfully propose to your Honorable Body that the two
Houses adjourn this day, to meet in the City of Frederick on the
4th day of June next, at 1 o'clock.

Secretary.
