180 JOURNAL OF PROCEEDINGS [May 13,

MONDAY, May 13th, 1861.

The message received from the House of Delegates, in regard
to an adjournment on Wednesday 15th inst.,

Was taken up.

On motion of Mr. Lynch,

A call of the Senate was ordered, when the following Senators
answered to their names :

Messrs. Blackistone, Duvall, Gardiner, Goldsborough, of Tal-
bot, Heckart, Kimmel, Lynch, McKaig, Smith, Townsend, Wat-
kins, Whitaker—12.

The Sergeanl-at-Arms returned, and reported that he had
notified the absent Senators that their attendance was required
at the Senate Chamber.

Mr. Smith presented the following:

The memorial of thirty-five citizens of Cecil county, protesting
against sending Commissioners to other States; against the call
of a Convention; praying the adjournment of the Legislature,
''sine die," and the repeal of the measures already made, and
protesting against the so-called bills of ratification of the outrages
lately committed in Baltimore city.

The remonstrance of J. J. McCullogh, and ninety-nine other
citizens of Cecil county, against the passage of the bill, entitled,
An act to provide tor the Safety and Peace of the people of Mary-
land.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, presented

The memorial of J. J. Read, and sundry other citizens of Cecil
county, respecting the actions of the Legislature in regard to
certain measures pending before the same.

All of which were severally read, and,

On motion of Mr. Yellou,
Was referred to the Committee on the Constitution.
