EVENING SESSION.

SATURDAY, May 11th, 1861.

The Senate resumed the further consideration of ihe bill enti-
tled,

An act to add a new section to article twenty-eight of the Code
of Public General Laws, relating to the rights and duties of
County Commissioners.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, moved a call of the Senate,
when the following Senators answered to their names :

Messrs. Blackistone, Duvall, Garcliner, Goldsborough, of Tal-
bot; Goldsborough, of Dor.; Kimtnel, Smith, Stone, Townsend,
and Watkins—10.

The Sergeant-at-Arms returned and reported that he had noti-
fied the absent Senators that their attendance was required at the
Senate Chamber.

Mr. Goldsborough, of Talbot, offered the fallowing

AMENDMENT:

Insert the word "volunteer" after the word "efficient," in the

fifth line of first section, and the same word after the word
"which," in said line of said section.

The yeas and nays being demanded, appeared as follows :

AFFIRMATIVE.

Messrs.Goldsborough, of Talbot; Smith,

Goldsborough, of Dor.; Stone—5.
Kimmel,

NEGATIVE.

Messrs. Brooke, President; Lynch,

Blackistone, McKaig,

Duvall, Townsend,

Franklin, Watkins,

Gardiner, Whitaker,

Heckart, Yellott—12.

So the Senate rejected the amendment.
