Anne Lovelace Gorsuch emigrated to Virginia
with seven of her children after her husband's
death. Anna's brothers were Daniell (ca. 1629-
?); John (ca. 1630-?); William (ca. 1631-?);
Robert (ca. 1635-?); Richard (ca. 1637-?), who
married Elizabeth Roe of Talbot County; Charles
(ca. 1642-?), who married first, Ann Cole, and
second, Ann Hawkins; and Lovelace (?-ca. 1703),
who married first, in 1679, Rebecca, daughter of
Richard Preston (ca. 1618-ca. 1669/70), and sec-
ond, in 1696, Hannah Walley (?-1705). Her sis-
ters were Katherine (1633-?), who married Wil-
liam Whitby (?-by 1655) of Virginia; Elizabeth
(ca. 1641-?), who married by 1662 Mowell Pow-
ell; and Frances. Anna Gorsuch Todd married
second, ca. 1678, David Jones (?-1686/87), and
third, by 1694, John Oldton (Ouldton) (?-1709).

TOLLEY, THOMAS (?-1732). BORN: possibly in
Kent County; of age by 1699. NATIVE: at least
second generation. RESIDED: in Kent County by
1699-at least 1716; in Baltimore County by 1720.
FAMILY BACKGROUND. FATHER: Walter Tolley (?-
1699), a planter of Kent County. MOTHER: Eliz-
abeth. BROTHERS: William; Walter; John; and
George. SISTERS: Mary; Elizabeth. MARRIED by
1722 Mary (?-1733), daughter of Richard Free-
born (?-ca. 1719) of Baltimore County. Her sis-
ters were Priscilla, who married in 1720 Samuel
Howell; Elizabeth, who married in 1702 Garrett
Garrettson; and Jane, who married in 1704 Rob-
ert Thomas. ADDITIONAL COMMENT: by 1709
Thomas Tolley was living with, but not married
to, Mary Freeborn. He was repeatedly admon-
ished for this by the vestry of St. Paul's Parish,
Kent County, during the years from 1709 to 1716.
Deponents in a later court case stated that all the
children of Thomas Tolley and Mary Freeborn
were born out of wedlock, except their youngest
