town lots, or a total of 2,934 acres. At least 1,000
acres of this was mortgaged to secure debts
amounting to £983.7.8 sterling and £909.14.8 cur-
rent money. His remaining 1,934 acres had al-
ready been mortgaged to the London owners of
the Nottingham Forges in Baltimore County.
WEALTH AT DEATH. DIED: in 1774 in Baltimore
Town; a petition to grant letters of admininstra-
tion was filed in the court on April 18, 1774.
PERSONAL PROPERTY: Lee's widow and relatives
refused to take out letters of administration. John
Beale Bordley (1726/27-1804), executor of the es-
tate of Stephen Bordley (ca. 1710-1764), to whom
Lee was indebted for £700.0.0 sterling, petitioned
the court himself as a result of the family's refusal.
Letters were not granted, however, and on March
8, 1785, Eleanor Lee again stated that she did
not intend to sign for administration on her hus-
band's estate. Size of personal estate is unknown.
LAND: ca. 2,900 acres in Baltimore County, all of
which was mortgaged. John Lee, Corbin's brother
and heir, released all of the mortgaged property
shortly after Corbin's death. The land that re-
mained consisted of 2 lots on Fells Point, 1 lot in
Baltimore Town, and 1 lot in Joppa Town.
