lithographed, stamped, engra.ved, carved, or in
any way made, manufactured or produced any
obscene book, pamphlet, paper-writing, adver-
tisement, circular, print, picture, drawing or
other representation, figure or image on or of
paper or other material of an indecent or im-
moral nature, or shall sell, give away, dis-
tribute, post up, or in any way exhibit to the
public or to any individual, or cause, direct or
permit to be sold, given away, distributed,
posted up, or in any way exhibited to the pub-
lic or to any individual any such obscene book,
pamphlet, paper-writing, advertisement, cir-
cular, print, picture, drawing or other repre-
sentation, figure or image on or of paper or
other material of an indecent or immoral
nature, as an advertisement of or accompany-
ing the advertisement of any theatrical per-
formance or other public entertainment or
amusement, or as an advertisement of or ac-
companying the advertisement, box, wrapper,
case or other cover of any article of merchan-
dise or otherwise, shall be deemed to be guilty
of a misdemeanor, and upon conviction thereof,
shall be punished by a fine of not less than
twenty dollars nor more than two hundred
dollars, and imprisonment for not less than
ten days nor more than one year, in the dis-
cretion of the Court in which the conviction
shall be had.

John Smith, of Baltimore county, Maryland,
for payment of cattle lost by the disease of
pleuro-pneumonia.
