LAWS OF MARYLAND.
SEC. 2. And be it enacted. That the male citi-
zens of the age of twenty-one years and up-
wards residing in the town of Stevensville, in

Election.
|
Queen Anne's county, or male citizens holding
real property therein shall, on the second Mon-
day of April annually, at some convenient
place in said town, elect by ballot three per-
sons residing in said town as Commissioners
of Stevensville.

|
|
Vacancy.
|
SEC. 3. And be it enacted, That if any vacancy
shall happen in the office of Commissioners
by death, resignation, removal or otherwise,
the remaining Commissioners shall cause an
election to be held to supply the same, and ten
days' previous notice shall be given of such
election.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
missioners may mark and bound the limits of
said town to any extent to which the property
of the inhabitants may extend, and may enact
such by-laws, or ordinances, not contrary to

law, as they may deem proper for the preserva-
tion of order, expedient for the health of the
town and its inhabitants, the prevention or
removal of nuisances, and suppression of vice
and immorality in the said town; and such by-
laws shall be recorded in a book, subject to
the inspection of the inhabitants of said
town at all times.

Meetings.
|
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That the Com-
missioners may meet, from time to time, as
often as occasion may require, and not less
than once in every three months.
SEC. 6. And be it enacted, That the said Com-
missioners may lay an equal tax on all the
property within said town, to such amount

purpose of the corporation, and may appoint
a collector to collect the same, and prescribe
his term of office, responsibility, and compen-
sation; and the said collector shall have the
