city; and the General Measurers of Oysters
appointed for Baltimore city shall weekly
change districts so that no General Measurer
of Oysters shall act the second time in any
district until he has acted once in every other
district; and the Governor shall appoint only
such men for the city of Baltimore who shall
have been recommended as a fit person by at
least fifty captains or owners of vessels li-
censed to dredge for oysters in the waters of
the State of Maryland.
SEC. 4. And be it enacted, That it shall be
the duty of said General Measurer of Oysters
to see that the Measurers of Oysters shall
be licensed as required by law; that they

shall properly measure the oysters, and that
the law in reference to the measurement of
oysters be strictly complied with; and they
shall have the right at all times to enter all
places and all vessels where oysters are being
measured in the shell.
SEC. 5. And be it enacted, That all licensed
Measurers shall, when ordered by the General
Measurer of Oysters, allow said General Meas-
urer to inspect his measurement, as well the in-
strument by which the oysters are measured ;
and it shall be the duty of the Judge of the
Court of Common Pleas of the city of Bal-
timore, or the Judge of the Circuit Court
of any of the counties of this State, upon
petition of any of the General Measurers of
Oysters alleging that any Licensed Measurer

of Oysters has been convicted of violating any
of the provisions of the law of this State in
reference to the measurement of oysters, and
the production of the record or a copy thereof
of the Court or Justice of the Peace where
such conviction was had, to suppress the
license of such Licensed Measurer, and no
license shall be granted him for the remainder
of the oyster season in which such license was
suppressed.
